Hi there, nice to hear from you and I can only wonder what your life is like
with six parrots. It must be quit interesting to say the least. You say that
you have four grays ... by that I assume that they are Congo African Grays
... larger with the red tails? Do you keep them caged together or separate?
How do they interact ? I've always wondered if they would get along well
when kept together in an artificial environment. I have one CAG, sex
undetermined, who is about two years old. We got him/her at about 17 weeks
old. I live in southern California, USA and paid $900 ... and worth every
penny. We named "him?" Andy. We chose the name from an old TV show called
"Amos & Andy". It was a comedy with a cast of "African American" people as
the actors. He has pretty much attached to me but puts up with my wife ... I
don't know if he is just "parroting me" or kinda likes her. :') ......
Anywhoooooooo .... He started out with a good attitude, as far as being
friendly and not biting, and then got to be rather nippy. For some reason,
over the last six months or so, he's getting to be a rather mellow fellow.
He loves to ride on my shoulder when I'm out in the yard watering the
plants. I screwed several perches into the tree in the middle of the yard
and also have hanging toys etc. for him to play with. I try to let him have
at least a couple of hours a day out in nature (such as it is ). He is quite
good at mimicking the local bird calls, not to mention all of things that we
say to our dogs. He does an excellent Chihuahua impersonation. Of course,
every time that the phone rings, he says "hello" before it even gets picked
up.
I would have said "hello" sooner but only just now noticed your post.
Welcome! Feel free to e-mail me if you wish. Patrick
