Re "we are hurting":  Not any more.  We found her about 2-3 miles away,
behind a Firestone garage.  Cold, scared, hungry, thirsty, weak, but
otherwise all right. She is quite subdued still, but that could be the
lack of sleep and god knows what else.

Amazing coincidence:  while we were busy canvassing the 3 block radius
of our neighborhood, she was 3 miles away.  Luckily, a relative of one
of our neighbors happened to be at the Firestone, spotted Bibi,
recalled the discussion of his mother-in-law about those poor souls
wandering the neighborhood calling out "Bibi - wheere are you", and
soon we were in cell phone contact (we were interrupted in plastering
the third layer of posters around the neighborhood).

A truly joyous day!

Fantastic. Its great to read good news.
Did she come to you as her protector or did you have to coax her back?
I expect she has a lot to think about now. She has just discovered the
world
is a huge and confusing place.

Yes, she waddled over to me and my wife, said "Ooooh!" and lowered her
head for a scritch.  She didn't have enough energy for much else.  The
guy who found her stayed with her on the ground until we arrived.  She
looked pretty pitiful huddled down on the pavement (it was in a
commercial alley) and lookiing bedraggled.

We've spent the last 24 hours with her and she is fully back up to
snuff (with her freshly trimmed wings).

What a relief for you.

Be aware that now she has learned to fly without restriction she'll
have tons of confidence.  After my bird flew off and was gone
overnight he managed to leave two more times that same summer, in
spite of a wing trim.  He'd gotten so cocky and full of himself he
would just take off if the opportunity presented.   He seemed to
forget this by the following summer, though he hasn't forgotten the
skills.  He can bank and land on the furniture perfectly.  No more fly
and clutch desperation.

Glad you are reunited.

Amazing. Your bird learned he could fly after escaping the first time, yet
you *didn't* learn to keep doors and windows closed so that he couldn't
escape.
I always suspected some people had a lower IQ than their pets and you have
proved me correct.

Please enough of the insults. You know nothing of Hillary's
circumstances
At least she didn't nail her pal to his perch. (I hope ! :-) )

Just as I know nothing about a woman who allows her parrot to escape 3
times, you know bugger all about me.
Bob - 02 May 2005 00:14 GMT
 Your message tells it all.

So from a post you deduce something . From a post *I* deduced something.

Well, aren't you a treasure.   People must love being your company
with your lovely personality.

In fact, he spends all day in his tree when I'm out in the garden.
His wings are trimmed.

Thanks.

Bibi will stay trimmed and away from temptation!

The Flock and I send regards
