Tell me -- those who own and know the parakeet:

I have two, so they obviously have bonded. When are they going to get
used to me? Is it such an awkward variable, determined by too many
factors, or am I missing something. I mean, I take care of these
birds. I even leave the cage open most of the time when I am here; but
they don't always come out -- I think I can count the times without
taking off a mitten or a shoe.

Thanks,

Mark

Well, truth be told, since the birds were purchased together, they have no
reason to bond with you at all since they have each other. Bonds are much
quicker to form between human and bird when there is only one bird at a
time. So, it may take quite a while to form a bond, or it may never happen.
If you want multiple birds, it works better to introduce one bird at a time
so that each bird can get to know you seperately.
