My family and I are very interested in possibly getting one of your
pups. I James am a Marine Corps vet. The English Bull Dog is the
Marines Corps Mascot. and I would love to have one. My wife found this
site and was looking around it when she came across your ad. Please
contact us at my email, muleskinner1956@yahoo.com or
ssgtusmc1976@gmail.com or catmandew1956@hotmail.com. I'm on yahoo
most of the time. Or if you'd rather call our home no. is 843-563-4181
and my cell is 843-729-6180. Or send us your no. and we will call you.
our children ages 16,14,and 10 fell in love with a neighbor's English
Bull Dog, but he sold him to someone else before we knew it. We look
forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you, James & Donna Sweatman.

James and Donna, please be very careful. You have exposed yourself to a
world of unethicity by:
1. Giving your phone number
2. Giving your name
3. Being specific about what you covet.
Now, to rectify the damage done, make sure you see the puppy and facility
from which it comes in person before you make a transaction. Nothing less
will do. You are an exposed "mark."
I recently listed a vehicle with accessories for my husband on various free
web sites and gave his phone number and email address as the contact. The
griefers came out of every crack; many not even in the same country. I'm
sure they were all looking for a way to get fast cash.
Good luck. Be smart. The guy with the money has the power.

When I read James' posting, I thought "and this is an example of how easy it
is for a con-man to snag victims". I couldn't imagine anyone believing that
someone would give a dog, worth a couple of thousand bucks, away for free.

I seen this on the news the other night. How there are people on the
Internet snagging there victims by offering free puppies that are worth
a lot of money.
Posting an email address is fine because you can always get another one
if the one you post on boards gets spammed - like a through away email
address.
Please tell me James & Donna that you just DID NOT post your real phone
numbers? I certainly hope for your sake that it was a fake number. I'd
contact google and see if the message can be deleted ASAP.

Sorry, my bad
correction - *through* = throw

Hate to tell you but even if Google deletes the message (and the
original posters can delete it themselves), it's not going away.
Those of us who don't use Google for reading newsgroups will continue
to see the posts that were deleted from Google groups.
It's hard to believe that after all this time and all the warnings,
people still open themselves up for all kinds of problems by posting
personal information in such public places.

I know that it would still be there. Luckily, the messages in my reader
are deleted after 30 days.
You bet it's hard to believe! I can't believe someone would actually
fall for adopting a puppy that may be worth over a thousand, and these
people saying it's for free?! and with the papers?! C'mon! I wouldn't
believe that for a minute!
