My momma parakeet attacked one of her babies today as we were getting ready
to pull it for handfeeding.

Here is a link to a pic of the injury:

The baby is approx. 3-4 weeks of age, and the injury is right at the top of
the beak, at the bottom of the cere.  I am going to handfeed the baby, but
I'm worried about infection around the site of the injury.  The beak is
still mostly intact, and attached, but if you press up on it, you can see a
hole right at the area where it attaches to the cere.

Is there anything we can put on the wound to keep it in place, like a
steri-strip or something similar?

I appreciate any information or personal experiences with similar things
that you could share with me.  I really want to save this baby.

TIA-
Jessica

Have you discussed this with your avian vet?

Only an avian vet will know what to do.
