HI All
Sorry it's been a while since i updated you on Poppet, but i'm pleased to
let you know that she is doing well.
It's still going to be a long recovery for her, but she's much more like her
oldself, although still a little unsteady, but seems to be about 90%, which
in my book has got to be an improvement.
She doesn't come out of her cage for too long (soon makes her way back) but
is getting back to sitting on the top of her cage and also back to her
'sheet chewing' antics.
She's averaging about 25ml of water (with antibiotics) every day and is
definitely eating a lot more than she was doing.
Poppet's now been on antibiotics for 11 days, so probably has about another
10 days to go on them, and then it's a trip back to the Avian Vet again,
sure to stress her out i'm sure :-(
But, she's still fighting, and we like to think and see that she's improving
every day. Time can only tell:-)
I've been noticing insurance posts recently and did pick up something on
Bird Insurance in the UK for anyone interested. It's a company called Exotic
Direct and covers vets fees upto £1500(£25 excess) for £29.40 for 1 bird and
£23.52 for each additional bird (leaflet appears to be differently priced
from website??). After the Vets fees I've paid recently, I would have been
happy to have paid this. Their site is at
http://www.exoticdirect.co.uk  . Has anybody else had insurance with them??

Wonderful to hear she's still doing well! Medicine, time, patience, and
most of all love (know she's not lacking in *that*!) and she'll be her
perky old self again.
Keep up the good work, Poppet!!!!!

You know, you can just ignore her if you like.  I don't like the way she
posts either, and neither do I think that all of her information is
necessarily correct, or do I really think is important all that much.  (I've
gotten much better and kinder advice from others, so she's just unnecessary
as far as I'm concerned) Just skip her posts, or kill file her if she upsets
you so much.  I've gotten to the point that when I read her nasty sh.t, I
get a chuckle out of it, because she just seems so miserable.
