For a couple of weeks my B&G pair have been defending the space behind
the door in my office and tearing up the carpet.  Four nights ago there
was an egg sitting in the carpet remains and tonight there's another.
The female is defending the nest ferociously.  Raise wings and open beak
if anyone gets withing three feet.

They did the same last year but the eggs didn't hatch.  This year I've
added a heater to the room and they seem to have made a better nest. The
male is also helping more.  Both years I made them what I thought were
nice nest boxes, but they rejected the boxes.

I do too but none I've been around were quite as cuddly as birds.

Sound like fun!  Are you ready for baby birdies?

Besides the parent B&Gs I have one each scarlet, CAG, U2, BCC, and WFA,
I'm close to finishing a new house with a steel and glass "bird proof"
60' x 15' x 15' living room.

The B&Gs weren't considerate enough to ask if I was ready for babies
but if they hatch successfully they'll be welcome to share my home.
I'm not at all sure I want it to be an annual event.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer.
Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does
not go nearly as well with pizza. --Dave Barry
