Fabric safe for birds

Hi, I have a question regarding fabrics that are safe for birds to
chew/play with.  My conure loves to sit on and chew hand towels in his
cage, but today I was luckily there as he got his foot tangled in a
thread from a chewed towel.  I'm looking for something soft, but free
from tough threads that could get stuck on his foot.  Any advice would
be appreciated.

I have used felt for my YNA.  He too got tangled in the loose threads
from a wash cloth.  We had it hanging on the back of the cage and
s(he) would snuggle under it like a blanket.  Also likes to chew it
and that is where the treads came from.  Got several of them around
the neck and fell off the perch.. Made a real fuss and I heard the
noise and got there in time to rescue the bird.

Boy, is that a fact!!  Whenever Dill is out of his cage in the evening, I
have to make sure I'm not wearing one of my 'good' t-shirts. I put on one of
the chewed shirts.

Interestingly, my sun conure used to chew on my shirts, then evolved
into light chewing.  Now he doesn't chew on my shirts at all.

I retired all my "bird shirts."
