Why would anyone have "nicely finished cherry furniture" in the same room with a bird? There is nice furniture which is compatible with birds but it's usually made of heavy stainless steel. Rather than water, I would recommend dampening a cloth with vinegar, which is really good at pulling dirt from wood and leather. It works well for getting poop off of our cherry floor and it works about as well as poop-off cleaner and is a lot cheaper. mm Spray furniture polish.
