Two weeks ago the wife and I brought home our new baby. Skittles is a
beautiful (approx)2month old baby Conure. We haven't had the DNA test yet
but, we call her she/her. Skittles is soon to be on single feedings a day
and is a peach! She already runs the house and pulls every trick I've read
about in here.

We started off by feeding her at the nursery a few times before we brought
her home. She really took to us. Did I mention she runs the house ? This is
our first bird and it's just too darn fun. We've been slowly introducing her
to the many things she's going to enjoy for the rest of her life like foods
and toys. Finally last night she started drinking water on her own. I
thought she was afraid of it for a while. (She's not too keen on take-a-bath
:/  - I suspect she'll learn, though)

Other than some of that screaching Skittles has been pretty much what we
expected. Most of that screaching, while for some is horrid, is pretty fun.
She likes to "play" and learned to "Step-up" in about 3 days. Not to
mention, she never turns down a "treat" of some Cheerios or a chili pepper.
I was quite surprised of how quickly she felt comfortable with the new
surroundings.

Like all proud parents I took some pictures. the link to follow:

Please don't yell at me about that little band. They "marked" her so they
would know she was mine @ the nursery and I haven't had the ability to take
it off. She's due for a clipping this weekend and I will have them take it
off.

Next she learns when and were to "make" :)

Great pictures, very cute bird. I like that cage too, gives her plenty of
room. As to the noise they make it can to some extent be controlled. The
main thing is not to encourage it, i.e. don't feed the bird to make it stop
and such. Have fun, looks like the little bird will be a ton of enjoyment
for you.

Welcome
I have a sun conure, close relative of a Jenday.  He potty trained
himself, and is actually quiet. He can scream, but goes weeks without
doing it.  Sleeps on my shoulder in the evening. Learns tricks fairly
easily, but forgets if I don't keep reinforcing them. He only "play
bites".  Great pet.  They are very smart.

He "goes" in the trash can I keep next to the cage, drops (most) seeds
in there too.  He seems to have an awareness of the crapping thing.
Never makes a mistake.  Wish I could take credit for it.

Good book to have: "Guide to have a well-behaved Parrot".
