How soon before English budgie can be sold?

We're thinking about getting another English budgie.

Our local bird store says that they have a line on some that are either 3-4
weeks old. We asked what color, and were told it would too soon to tell. We
were also told they would be ready to be sold in another 3 weeks.

Questions:

How many weeks does it take to determine the coloration of an English
budgie?

Is 6-7 weeks the correct amount of time before an English budgie should be
sold?

Thanks.

English Budgies leave the nest between 4 to 5 weeks. They should be left with
their parents for aprox 1 week to assure weaning.

Or removed to a nursery with other babies  so they can learn/copy to eat and
decome independant.

Seed can be felt in the babies crop and drinking should be observed before
allowing for sale.

Most colours of babies are apparent at aprox three weeks.

yes on 6 to 7 weeks selling age.

You should feel lucky that this Pet Shop is responsible and telling you the
real facts.

Thanks for the info. We like this store very much. Their birds always look
healthy and the cages are always kept clean. Unfortunately, it is relatively
small and they only have a certain amount of birds available at any one
time.

This is the same store in West Hollywood that had a burglary some years back
and had a fire last year. They rebuilt and are still there.

We'll just have to wait a few more weeks to check out what they have and
make a decision at that time.

To Jack:  We also bought Shlomo at this store, who was 9 weeks old when we
got him.

Thanks again,
Jerry and Sue

What do English budgies sound like?  The stuff on the net says they're less
active, but that's all.  I've never been in a store with English budgies, or
I just didn't recognize the sound.  Just curious.

They sound exactly like regular budgies.   I have an English and a
normal budgie and can't always tell who's making the noise.   Mine is
much more laid back, and doesn't chatter as much as the regular
budgies, but he makes his share of noise.   He also talks, coughs, and
laughs.  :)

I brought mine home at 9 weeks.  But he'd been ready before that.
