Hello,
Several years ago I was on this newsgroup when I first got my birds.  It was
very helpful and fun.  I am pleased to see that some the names here have not
changed!

This is my situation and my question.

Exiting situation:  I have 2 small aviaries in my apartment 3 feet long X 2
feet wide X 5 feet high

In aviary 1 -  I have 3 budgies 2 female and 1 male and 1 female Bourke
parakeet.

In aviary 2 - I have a pair of Bourke parakeets 1 male and 1 female.

Recently I adopted a pair of budgies which I initially put in with the
Bourkes.  The male Bourke has been aggressive to the male budgie

Can I put the pair in the other aviary with the 1 male 2 female budgies and
the 1 female Bourke?

I know this is very long winded I just don't know who I can place with whom
and how much I need to worry about them hurting each other.
Thanks!
Joy

There might still be agressive behavior with the other male in the other
aviary.

And I'm here to tell you, budgies can definitely hurt each other if they
have a mind to.  I had to separate my two female budgies (both now RB) and
maintain separate cages; they were literally drawing blood when they fought.
One of them lost a toe in the battle.

You can try it, just keep an eye on things to see how they all get along.

Interesting that this works out.  Generally more male budgies than females
are necessary to prevent the females from fighting for a male and available
space.

Why wouldn't you?  (other than the m:f ratio that's working anyway) Who told
you to mix Bourke's and budgies in the first place?
I can't figure out why you wouldn't just try it before asking.  You already
have a female Bourke's mixed with budgies without any problems and the only
problem with the other set up is the male Bourke's.
