You can't see them because they are in the post box.

Oh yes, it happens here too!  I'm not sure how often it happens in public
mailboxes (ours are designed somewhat differently than yours) but I know it
happens personal mailboxes.  I had a rural paper route many years ago, used
to deliver the Lansing State Journal in the middle of the night every night
to the country folk, and saw it quite often.

This was on my local news a couple of nights ago so I found more info on
it. People now have to travel a couple of miles to the next postbox to post
their letters lol.

I sometimes wish we had a postal delivery collection service like yours over
there Owly. It seems more efficient. Ours is in a state of collapse at the
moment with thousands of letters and packages going missing, staff levels
cut and mail services reduced. The annual report shows that the postal
service failed to meet any of its targets. And the director manages on a
salary of over £60,000 a year with bonuses for meeting targets. Makes me
hopping mad. I only get my mail every couple of days as the postie doesn't
bother delivering until several houses on my lane have mail and loads of
items simply don't arrive. Seems like the nicest thing about Royal mail
these days is when birds nest in the post box lol.
