I just traded in all my bettas for a baby tiger oscar. Wondering if it is ok to feed him with the freeze dried blood worms my bettas used to eat? I also have some "vivid colour" flakes. This ok? Thanks! You shoul have saved some of the betta's Thaw out the blood worms in some warm water, and let him have them, what are you going to feed next week. bassett >I just traded in all my bettas for a baby tiger oscar. Oh my blood worms aren't frozen, they are freeze dried. So they are dry worms that stink. Is that ok still? Also, how come my oscar didn't sulk!!! I was amazed, the last two oscars I have owned, sulked for about a week when I first got them. This little guy is fantastic, sulked for 10 minutes, then managed to coax him out! He was a little bit frightened to come to the top for food for the first day, but after that he was fine. Neat eh? I'm sooo impressed with him. He's very pretty too, lots of orange stripes and dots, and also lots of transparent stripes in his fins - most decorated oscar I've ever seen, hope he doesn't lose too much colour when he gets bigger. One more thing - I used to feed my old oscar random bugs from around the house, and whatever landed on the lid of his tank (he would stalk it as it walked above him!). I wouldn't feed him only those two particular foods, but bloodworms are a great treat for baby oscars and the color food will bring out his red stripes. For the bulk of his diet, pick out a good brand of high protein cichlid pellet. As well as bloodworms, you can also offer your oscar freeze dried or frozen krill, brine shrimp, and even live earthworms when he's big enough to eat them. Avoid feeder fish because they're very poor in vitamins and often carry diseases.
