Hi all,
I'm a relatively new discus keeper and I don't know if I have a problem or
not, but my discus appear to be itchy... They are constantly rubbing their
eyes against the plant leaves... The will swim up and flick themselves
against plant leaves or the driftwood... I don't know if I should be
concerned or not, they are all eating and fighting each other still... They
are still only young so is this normal behaviour?
I looked on the net and it suggested gill flukes...? does this seem right?
thanks in advance.
Justin.

It suggests an irritant, typically an external parasite. The most common
is Ich, but observation may indicate something else. At this point, I'd
be reaching for Clout, a general purpose anti-parasitic.

Have you checked your water conditions for high Nitrite and Ammonia, along
with PH levels to make sure there acidic below 7.0, also are you using TAP
water also to keep them? Could be metal in the water or chemicals added by
the water board
Other than that it could be flukes. But if there not dark in colour (black)
I would suspect poor water quality
