He asked me to bag up a half dozen of them. I cautioned him that they might not be a good mix with his very large discus. A couple of weeks later when he was next in the store I asked him how the cardinals and the discus had gotten along. He replied cheerily that the discus loved them! He was our favorite kind of customer. Knew he was taking a chance and didn't whine and moan when it didn't work out. If you don't mind my taking the opportunity to toot our own horn. Groton is a Navy town, home of the U.S. submarine base. On a number of occassions we had new customers come in and tell us that other navy men, as far away as Hawaii, had told them that when they got transferred to Groton to be sure to check us out.
