I have a 40 gal. and 20 gal. long tank.  What fish can I keep with my
favorite Kribs?

Been wondering the same thing. I plan on having a pair of Kribs in my
37gal community tank.
From what I have found Kribs for the most part are ok in a community
tank. Breeding is when they may  try to run the other fish off. Of
course the tankmates have nowhere to go.
Could be trouble if you have other bottom dwelling fish.
Slow moving fish could get picked on during breeding.
Very small fish like Neons could become a snack.
Tiger Barbs can fend for themselves. Read that Serpae tetras will do
ok with Kribensis.
