I'd like to use something besides the Emperor 400 cartridges (with the
charcoal) in the first position for particulate filtration - something less
expensive -  I already use the media baskets in the second position with
crushed coral to help with the PH - I have loads of uncut blue bonded filter
pad material - any suggestions how I could use that material, or something
else that would achieve the same results, in the 400?  Thanks!
