A friend recommended these Chichlids as a good fish for a community tank. He said they are totally non aggressive, and will be fine with my platties, zebra danios, and neons. I've got a 55G, with mostly slow growing plastic plants (lol) and a live anubias nana due to the low lighting in the "tank kit". Tank's been running for over a year, without too many major problems other than the occasional ick or dead pleco. D S Occasional ick and dead pleco's is not exactly smooth sailing. Killing a pleco is not easy to do. Are you doing regular water changes? Are you monitoring the ammonia ph etc? I keep severums, angels and kribs together with my gouramis. Vicki Keyholes are awesome and peaceful cichlids. they are probably the most underrated for being versitile for a community tank. They are playful, not picky about their food, eat flake off the surface, pick at scraps from the bottom, and are fascinating to watch as they comb the bottom for scraps... they basically point downward at about a 20degree angle, at about 1 cm above the gravel, pick, then dart forward 2-4 cm, and repeat. vs other fish, which smothly swim across the bottom, only to go into the gravel when they see something they want. Keyholes, to a move-stop-pick- move-stop-move-pick-stop-move- sequence. Chad > I have never had one but have read that they are nice fish. They also eat snails. Have a go! Martin I'm delighted to hear that people are recommending these great little fish. I've had problems with various cichlids but I have to say that the least of my troubles comes from the Keyholes. I'd also highly recommend them. Lis Ireland. |
