Hi all ,

Any some advise for the beginner in cichlid 29 gallon tank.

What is the ideal pH , KH and GH for cichlid ?
What gravel suitable for the tank?

Thanks.

The answers to your questions depend greatly on what cichlids you're
interested in. The best thing to do would be to measure the pH of your tap
water after it's sat over night and start there. The Rift Lake cichlids need
hard alkaline water. This is much the same for the Central American species.
For the South American, West African and Madagascar species, you'll want
soft acidic or neutral water. For your size tank, I'd look at some of the
Tanganyikan substrate spawners, shell dwellers or South American dwarf
species depending on your tap water.
