Piper started talking sometime last week.... he whistles so far, the
wolf whistle and now he says "pretty bird" and he is very talkative
like as if he is trying to say more words. I am beginning to think
that he is actually a male.... for a while I was thinking he was a she
because of the coloring of his feathers.... I would hate to call Piper
a "little man" and actually have him be a her. *lol*

Congratulations, that's so cool! I have a friend who's cockatiel has quite
to vocabulary, they really have cute little voices :). (BTW, most of the
talking cockatiels are actually males, some say "all" are but while I
haven't personally known any, I've heard of exceptions that prove that
rule.)

I agree. 'Most' tiels that can talk or whistle complicated tunes are
infact males. There is the odd girl that can do it too but generally
it's a male trait, probably due to the need to attract females in the
wild, They need the ability and it of course caries over to captive ones.

Thank you for replying Owly and Josh!
Piper is quite the little character already! I am just amazed at how
quickly he picked up on things! Right now everyone in the family keeps
whistling the "Austin Powers" theme song and hopefully he will pick up
on that too... which I am sure he will.... it is just too cool! *LOL*
I keep telling him "I love you" over and over and I think he is trying
to say it, but he hasn't quite got it yet. I just love that "little
guy"!
BTW, his cage comes today :-)

Aye, most the talkers I've had were males. Not to say, I have
had/have a couple of females that talked.
One male I had, would not only say "I love you" but would also play
"Peek-a-boo", bobbing his head where is couldnt be seen then popping
it back up and say his "peek-a-boo". He then expected us to do the
same, which we usually did. Thats a real fun game to play with your
pet if you can get him to play:)

That is so cool when they play "peek-a-boo!" I have already started
doing that with him, but it's too soon so he isn't doing it yet.... I
think I am already trying to teach him too many things at once so I am
probably driving him bonkers! *LOL*

that name posting to another group and I never checked to change the

You can set up two accounts on your browser both with the same newsserver
but different groups and nicknames.
Hope this may help.

I know, but she usually only posts once in a great while, so I didn't
want to bother setting up two... it's just that this time I forgot to
check the account *LOL*

It's very easy with the OE V6.0 you are using. Just pull down the tools menu
and select accounts. Just clone the info you already have into another new
account and change the nickname.
