Itchy butt...

I noticed one of my birds doing something funky over the weekend. At first I
thought he was just stretching his legs out, but after awhile I realized he
was trying to scratch his vent with his feet. I looked him over and couldn't
see any stuck poops or anything. I watched him for a bit to make sure he was
pooping, and he is.

He has a vet appt for tomorrow, but tonight when I came home from work I saw
that he had pulled a few feathers out from around the area. He's constantly
preening that area now, and is now sitting on the perch rather floofed. He's
still singing, still begging for scritches, and generally moving around, but
he spends a lot of time fiddling with his feathers there. All in all, he's
looking rather uncomfortable.

Any ideas as to what I can do for him until he gets to the vet?

Has your birdie been 'hanging out' with the wrong crowd and now he's all
itchy in his privates?  :) j/k

But seriously, two things came to mind, one was egg laying (but you said he
was a HE, right?) and the other was papillomas (kinda like birdie
hemorroids)... just keep an eye on him and keep him warm until you get him
to the vet.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Turns out he had an infection. =\

They looked at a stool sample, but he looks normal there. They said it was
slightly soft, but not really unusual. Some started sticking to his
feathers, but they don't know why.

They clipped his feathers off around his infected area, and he's going to be
getting antibiotics and some cream to put on. He was quite cuddly when we
got home, and wanted scritches for some time. Usually he'll want some, but
then quickly wants to move onto other things. So mostly just medicating him
and keeping him warm, and hopefully he heals quickly. =)
