Oil paint fumes?

I am an artist and sometimes I paint with oil paint. I used to use
linseed oil paint but I switched to walnut oil paint. It has much less
odor. I'm thinking of buying a cockatiel. I was wondering if the fumes
from the walnut oil would bother the Cockatiel? Also, would they try
to eat the wet paint? It's toxic if it's ingested.

Fumes of any kind can be very dangerous for a bird and it would almost
certainly walk over and try to nibble on the paint.

According to North American WHMIS information systems "fumes" are  fine
particulates suspended in the air. I do not believe paint falls into this
category unless you are sanding dried paint. Although they are very often
misnamed "fumes" the correct term would be "vapors"

Assuming, from your email you are in the UK somewhere this information may
not apply.

Just an interesting tidbit.

If I'm not mistaken, fumes, vapors, aromas, and the like are all fine
particulates suspended in the air. So, if you smell something, you are
actually physically taking in part of the object.

Why would that be? Physics are different in the UK?

Hardly.

Well, good.  Maybe he'll settle the hell down then.  You gotta watch if you
can ...  pretty fascinating really.  But I imagine it's easier for a girl to
watch than a boy.  It's more like  snip/squeeze/plop  snip/squeeze/plop
