G'day :)
My wife and I went for a drive today looking for wild cockatiels, we
drove for approximatly 9hrs and did not spot 1 :( We searched areas
where in the past I have seen 100's of them. Not only did we not see
any cockatiels we did not even see any other parrots, not even a galah
until we were back near the coast and within about an hour of home.
I was hoping to take some pics of wild cockatiels. Not sure why they
were not around, there seemed to be a fair amount of water in the
rivers and dams although we have been in drought conditions for
several years now. There also seemed to be plenty of seed grasses
around. I hope they are not gone forever.

Hello Stephen,

From Merriwa up to Barraba then back to Gundy in the Upper Hunter and
lots of places in between. We did a big triangle and didn't spot one.
Next week hopefully we'll take a few days and head further west maybe
around the Barradine region where there used to be thousands of them
but I haven't been out that way for many years.
