Riding ceiling fans for a cockatiel or other small and fast pet is a great

We put ours on the (TURNED OFF!) fan and gave it a gentle nudge. He seems
to like the high perch although the rotation baffles him.

Have to pulse the fan on the lowest setting so that it barely turns for the
first few times. Then turn the fan on continuously for a few seconds or so
until they get the hang of it. I have gone to the medium setting with a
couple of budgies but I never used the high speed. I figure the weight of a
cocatiel is too great for really fast speeds as they might slide off and get
hurt. At full low speeds my birds can fly off anytime they want. They fly
much faster than that anyway.
My budgies used to fly up and land on the blades and chirp until I turned it
back on. They lean forward into the wind like little fighter jets, all
streamlined, and just seem to love it.

Im all for letting them on the fan, but never ever turned on, what and how
will you feel if you have it on and a bird slips off and whack whack whack,
concussin time or worse, dead. I would never be able to forgive myself

OK sorry for offending everyone. I was of the opinion that your fans
were on when this was happening. I would like to withdraw my statement
and replace it with: That sound like a lot of fun for the teil.

I thought the fan was on as well. It must have been the "ride on" instead
of "sit on" bit.
Mortification over.

Here is a very nice swing you can implement for your bird. You may both
enjoy it very much.
