Hi,

My tiel has been scratching all the time.  This only started a few days ago.
Is this normal, or is something wrong?

Dunno, what did your vet say it was?

All the time as in that's all he's doing all day?
Or all the time as in once or twice every day....?

If that's all he is doing all of the time, best to get him checked out by a
vet - it could be a skin infection or something.

Could be that it needs a good bath. How often does it bathe?

Geez, good way of cleaning the floor.  Rolling about wildly.  Just add
some Pledge to the underside.

I had something similar with my lovebird, he would constantly scratch at
his head and ears and he would jerk his head back and forth like he was
trying to get something out of his throat, I did take him to the vet and
they did a beak scraping to check for mites and a stool sample, both
negative, he still scratches every once in awhile and we think he is getting
seed husks stuck in his throat, we give him a shot of mineral oil with a
shringe and all is well.  I would go to a vet if I were you, nothing worse
than having a skin problem, your bird is going bananas as im sure you are
aware, itching sucks if it doesnt stop.
