In my large mixed aviary I have tiels, conures, canaries and some bantam
chickens (barbu d'Uccles).
The bantams have a box in which to lay their eggs on the floor of the insde
part of the aviary.
I went in to collect the eggs only to find a cockatiel hen sitting on 3
bantam eggs. She was highly indignant when I shooshed her off to get them
too.
Bless her, she could barely cover *one* of them but was trying her best. I
wonder what she would have thought had any of them hatched?

I never said they wouldn't hatch although given that a tiny tiel would not
be able to keep a bantam egg sufficiently covered, there would be little
chance and in any case I removed them to use in cooking so even less chance
of them hatching.
If I allowed her to sit, and she *did* manage to cover the egg sufficiently
for it to be incubated, how do you suppose she would react to a bantam chick
already running about and able to feed itself?

The birds eyes would probably look like a deer when caught in the
headlights, but anyways I was just being a smartypants.
