thanks to all who gave advice, a special thanks to the man who suggested I
research before the bird comes home.  That was really great, should I give
him back and start from scratch.!!!
I found a very helpful site at: cockatielcottage.com

Nobody made that suggestion.

That would be the best thing you could do for the poor bird.

It's a shame your poor mother couldn't take YOU back, Jynx.

Yes. His father was a weird animal loving pervert who liked to conduct in
beastality.
Jynx's mother is a chimpanzee, which is why jynx likes to throw sh.t around
the room.

Unfortunately, when he was born, instead of leaving him at the zoo with his
natural mother, they let him live with his alcoholic, deadbeat father, who
taught him how to bludge off society, but because of his hairy appearance,
he never quite did fit into society, and was beat up by the other children
at school, which is why he hates people now, and has to hide in his
basement, hurling insults at everybody from the safety of his computer.

Remember one thing: Zach is the only one here qualified to really have a
relationship with a pet bird.

He has been know to receive beak jobs every night from his cockatiels.  It
fits very well also.

My guess is that this bird has not been tamed and socialized properly,
or at all. All I can say is to be very patient and follow the
recommended taming procedures with it and try to show that you mean no
harm. I think there's a good chance it'll come around eventually. It
could take months.
