My pair of tiels recently had thier first clutch of eggs. Three of the
babies hatched, all was well for the first few days. They were feeding and
sitting on them, parenting seemed to be going well by the male and the
female. Then friday I came home to 2 dead babies...I thought they must have
been sick, as there were no visible signs and both were being fed. The third
baby was being fed and cared for well. I checked this morning and all was
fine. I came home at lunch 4 hours later to a dead baby with a chewed off
foot and part of a wing. Is this something anyone else has experienced? I
have heard babies are often neglected or killed in a large and overwhelming
clutch but this was only 3...This is thier first clutch, so could it be just
immaturity? I'm afraid to let them have another clutch for fear they may
murder them as well...any (helpful) input is appreciated.

Never heard of that, thats sad, all my breeders are loving and adoring with
every clutch, at times a baby may be pushed aside for whatever reason by the
parents and thats when we step in and care for it, maybe let them have
another clutch and keep a closer watch and at the first sign of trouble,
take them and hand feed.
