Cockatiel & Yorkie

I recently acquire a cockatiel.  Actually I found it at a yard sale.
The poor thing was living in horrible conditions.  I paid 5.00 for it.
I can't believe the change in the cockatiel, in just two weeks.  Seems
so much happier.  I don't think he knew there was such a thing as food,
water, and treats.  Let alone toys.  My problem is, I have a 4 year old
Yorkie.  I have been trying to acquaint Shene and Brezer.  Shene the
yorkie is having no part of that.  She is spoiled rotten.  Never had to
share our affections with any thing or one.  Shene tried to remove
Brezer head this evening.  Is there a magical trick to solving this
problem?  Brezer doesn't seem to be bothered by Shene.  Just the
opposite with Shene.  Brezer is driving her nuts.  I really don't want
to give up Brezer, but I don't want Shene to change from a sweet little
companion, to a bird eater.  Thank you if anyone has any suggestions

Shene probably thinks of the bird as a "toy", since your dog has never been
exposed to another pet.  Watch the bird carefully when out in the same room
as the dog.  Birds can be very curious creatures and may be fascinated by
Shene, and visa versa.

Glad you rescued the cockatiel from an uncaring environment.  Just hope
that it works out for you and Shene.

Never leave the two alone.   Our terrier chases our cockatiels
if they get to close to the floor.   Fun toys that fly are irresistable.

Don't hurt yourself patting your own back.
It's really easy to come here and say how awful the birds life was
before you, the 'god of goodness' came along and saved it. but you don't
really know anything at all about it's life do you?

The bird is happier now simply because it is getting more familiar and
comfortable with it's new surroundings. - You've never seen how it
behaved in it's old surroundings.

Hey, dude, the bird was in a garage sale and was not wanted.  Don't you get
it?  Da, da, and da.  That is a "no brainer".  Hello!

Connie saved this bird from neglect and possibly death.  Think about it!  Some
people make the mistake of buying a bird then find out they do not have
feelings, or time for the bird.  As a result the bird is neglected and
unloved.  She said it was in really horrible conditions. Would you want that
for your life?  Connie did a "good deed" by buying this bird for the $5.00.  In
the pet stores Cockatiels sell for $80.00 and that does not include the cage.
Connie got a really good deal.  It is a living being that was in need of some
love and care.  Let's give her a big hug and applause!   Go Connie, you are
great!

What the f.ck does that prove?  Birds get bought and sold every day for
many reasons.  The fact that it was sold at a garage sale means
absolutely nothing and why it was sold is not known. The fact that
Connie needs to have her ego stroked on usenet for reasons she created
in her own little mind is just plain sad.

I do, but it's obvious that you don't and never will.

Thanks everyone for your comments.  Well except for one.  Maybe ZQ is
having a bad day.  I am relieved to know that there are other terriers
acting the same way, or as bad.  Back to ZQ, I do think I can pat myself
on the back some.  When you seen a beautiful bird, in a cage, that is
all rusted, plus filthy, you do what you can. He had no food, water or
toys.  No paper on the bottom of the cage.  Just piles and piles of
waste.  The cups were so coated with dirt and grime, scraping and
scrubbing didn't touch it.  The food that was in a plastic container was
full of cock roaches.  Never heard a sound out of him for days.  He
acted like he didn't know what food, gravel or a bath was.  Now he
jabbers all the time.  Today I was thrilled, he actually sit on my hand
for a while.  The town I live in is not very large.  Where I found him,
I can guarantee he didn't have a good home.  Would you sell your bird(s)
at a yard sale for what ever.  If I had offered 1.00 for him, they would
have accepted it.  Again, I feel good about what I did, and doing.
Also, thanks again for the feed back.  I enjoy your group.

You deserve a big pat on the back for having a heart for this poor neglected
bird.
Go Girl!  Big hug for you.
