I have two cockatiels. I got Cookoo when he was a baby. He loves
people. Then I got Toro a month later, thinking she/he would keep
Cookoo company. But they hate each other. Well, it's mostly Cookoo who
bite and chase Toro around. It's been 3 months now. I love both of them
and I don't want to give any of them up. What can I do?
Do cockatiels choose their friend base on the look? My two birds look
completely different.
Thanks!

I have a pair of tiels who took 1.5 years to "bond" and accept each other;
including allowing themselves to touch. Now one can not seperate them
without intense emotional consequences...and actual trading of "preening" of
eachother took about 2 years to happen. In fact if eitherof them goes to the
vet the hospital knows to expect both birds as seperation is obviously
stressful for them.
Biting and chasing is not good however and can lead to injury so it's best
to seperate them if/when that behavior occurs....but seperate them only by
bars...not by placing them in different locations. "When" the biting/chasing
occurs is a clue of what's going on but you mention nothing of that.
