Maybe for some snails but certainly not for MTS, they will devour fry eggs straight away! Is'nt there a link between snails carrying certain disease/parasites (in a pond environment) that they pick up from Bird poops? Maybe you're talking about big apple snails that eat cabbage leaf, don't digest in entirely, and that creates food for infusoria to grow (infusoria are food for very small fry)?
