No that is not true. If you need info on snails
http://www.applesnail.net will have the info. No rummors or hype.

no snail pooh is not poisonous. Snails typically don't break the food down
properly so (for example) snails can be a benefit in fry tanks (so I've read).

Maybe for some snails but certainly not for MTS, they will devour fry eggs
straight away!
Is'nt there a link between snails carrying certain disease/parasites (in a
pond environment) that they pick up from Bird poops? I vaguely remember
someone mentioning this on the pond group, probably Ingrid or Jan.

I wuldn't put any snails in a tank with Fry eggs if I wanted them hatched!

Yes I remember reading about the bird poop to snail disease myself in a pond
environment!

Maybe you're talking about big apple snails that eat cabbage leaf, don't
digest in entirely, and that creates food for infusoria to grow
(infusoria are food for very small fry)?

It was apple snails I read this about. Anyway If I was raising fry I'd just
grow infusoria the old fashioned way (and have).
