Ok, here's the deal. We've had a goldfish for about 2 1/2 years or so,
and about 4 months ago we bought an aquatic frog. The guy at the pet
store said we could keep them in the same tank for a while, but that
when the frog got bigger it might eat the fish. Well, the frog is not
there. We have a top on the tank, though it could have hopped out, I
suppose, it does not seem likely, and we did not find it anywhere on
the floor, either. And there is no bad smell anywhere. Could our
fish have gotten a carnivore streak and eaten him? Thanks for any help
you could give us!

Yup!
Goldies will eat just about anything that will fit in their mouth.
However, unless you found skeletal pieces of frog skull in the tank, my
bet is that you still have dried out frog someplace in your house.

How long has he been missing? I had a dwarf frog I couldn't find for days.
Like you I looked on the floor around the tank, in the TV stand, everyehere!
Alas one day there he was. They can be very clever at hiding!
