Ive just got back from a 3 day trip to find one of my two goldfish
looks almost dead! :(

It's laying at the bottom of the tank, eyes still open, gills slowly
flapping, but looks like it's got absolutely no energy at all. every
so often it come to life for about a second, but then just sinks
again.

I was wondering if it's starved - I put a holiday feeder stone in
before i left, but it didnt really dissolve... the other fish is fine,
but it's a lot bigger.

please please help! will she die?  :'(

They won't starve for weeks.  Do a big water change.

Agreed. Something happened in that tank. Is only one fish exibiting
the symptoms? Can you give specs on the tank, inhabitants, and water
parameters? In the interim, I agree a good-sized water change
(perhaps 25%) won't hurt, and will help. Use treated tap water or RO
water.

I agree, GF dont starve, but those stones do weird things to tanks.  do some big
water changes.  Check water parameters including ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, pH and
temperature.  Ingrid
