Hello

I have got an orando that looks healthy. but when it is swimming and it
stops. It floats to the top of the tank. I have been told this is a swim
bladder problem and that this is because of surface eating. I have changed
the food to a none floating food. but the fish seams to be getting worse as
it is know floating on its side, but when swimming looks all ok. How do I
course the problem and am I correct in thinking that it is ok to keep the
fish in the same tank as normal?

any help will be very Appreciated .

regards magpieally.

Hi Magpieally

Yes, it is a swimbladder problem. but there r 2 major causes. No.1 it
is genetic. No.2 dried food.
Ok, u need to stop feeding ur oranda with those dried flake or pellet
or whatever-u-have food for a few days. Instead, feed it with boiled
skinned peas. Boil a pea for few mins, pop out pea flesh, rip flesh to
pieces n feed them to ur oranda. peas act as laxatives. Swimbladder
problems r caused by fish gulping in air when feeding from the surface
or air from inside food. its common in goldfish cos the swimbladders r
more deformed than other fish making swimbladder problems more
frequent. After feeding it peas, it shud go back to normal. When going
back to the normal food, pre-soak it for a heck of a long time b4
feedin it to ur oranda. Now, this only relates to "No.2 dried food." If
it's genetic, then it can't be fix.
OK
