How many fish do you have in what size tank, and how do you maintain it?
Look end to end and see whether the clouding is green or white.
White clouding is a bacterial bloom and you're likely not cleaning the
tank well enough or have it overstocked. Test your nitrates to see if
they're high. Another cause of bacterial blooms in healthy tanks can be
frequent, overly large water changes. Bacteria bloom on nutrients in
the tap water.
Green water (algae) is from a combination of ammonia in the water and
overly bright light. It's extremely common in ponds but rarer in tanks.
Lowering lighting and/or improving biological filtration often helps.
Devices like the one you are looking at can clear water. However, they
will not generally address the underlying problem with a cloudy tank.

Elaine really knows what she is talking about. I had a couple of experiences
where I changed more than the normal amount of water in my main tanks and
had cloudy water bacterial blooms never seemed to go away until I used my
vortex diatomaceous earth filter - after I used that the cloudiness went
away and the water remained crystal clear after that. I had cloudy water
some time after that again but that was because I hadn't figured out quite
yet that the excessive water changes caused it and I saw mention that the
bigger the water change the better, and always, but all it took to fix it
again was the vortex filter. Diatomaceous earth filters filter out anything
the size of 1 micron or larger (the ich, ick parasite included) and if I
understand correctly diatoms are super small algaes that are one thing that
might not filter out through the vortex filter. I have also found that the
50 micron filter pad media I use in my bedroom tank keeps the tank clear
even after larger water changes and really does a great filtering job. I
have relegated my vortex to just being used to clear cloudy water right now
even though I have only had to use it for that 3 times over the last year or
so but even so - it is useful and doesn't need to be used much because it
does such a great job. The 50 micron cut to size/shape pad is the cheapest
way to go but does not carry as much guarantees as the vortex filter. Good
luck and later!
