Underwater filter

I have a 10gal tank and have been using a mini filter for many years
now - the type that hangs on the side of the tank. It needs to be
changed and I am wondering about changing to an underwater filter.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Or suggestions etc.?

I am putting a few platies into the tank.

Thanks.

It's just my opinion but why keep the crud *IN* the tank and give up space
in the tank for a filter?   I use the outside filters on all my tanks.
They're also easier to reach to clean and take up no space in the tank.

Yep, outside filters are much quicker, and it  gives the user more
time to  trash usenet groups. Getting to the crud is also much easier.
Afdterall some folks like  crud (porn) like Carols husband others like
crud and detrius like Carol does. Sure would br bad to hinder access
to the stuff.......after all Carol knows it all and carol knows best.

I know you probably have someone else picked for the job, but if they
have a nervous breakdown, I'll step in.

I forgot to add.... if you don't want loads and loads of platys get a few
males. Platys can be very prolific!  ;-)

Thanks, I will remember the point about the male platys.
About the fitler. I have some what limited space and because of the
hood of the tank, I have to hang the filter on the back of the tank
but I really want to hang it on the side. The water flow is also at a
better direction (as my tank is originally set up as a feng shui tank)
and right now, the filter flow water towards the door. This may not be
of any concern to some but if I am getting a new fitler, I'd like to
figure out how I can get the filter to hang on the side, or to get an
underwater one to eliminate the water flow problem entirely. But it
looks like the recommendations are not good!

Any other suggestions welcome!

Anything you hang on the side will be in the way of the light as I
understand it.  That would leave you with a small canister filter of some
kind.  There would only be two hoses involved.  There are those small
inside-the-tank filters as a last resort.

You don't have a clue Roy Hauer. If you had a clue you'd go back to the VA
hospital and stay in treatment. Harassing and net stalking and slandering
old ladies and crippled veterans doesn't make you look like a hero.

Do you have any friends you can talk to about it, Duron~dae? Scratch

Anyone can see you need professional help desperately Roy Tristan Hauer, as
I am apparently destroying your life by merely existing. Prozac, maybe
Thorazine can help you get over your obsession with me and professional
counseling can help you get over using personal attacks, fantasies and
slander as an ego builder and attention getter.  Talk to your Dr at the VA
hospital about the proper medications to help you control yourself.  You can
live a normal life free of hate, lies, feelings of inferiority and
obsessions but you must make an effort to help yourself.  Don't you want to
feel good about yourself again?  Your Dr at the VA can help you.

Net stalking and slandering old grandmothers and disabled veterans wont make
you the man you want to be in the eyes of the world.
