My betta seems to look like
his fins are all black and
shriveled...help, what the
heck is this and what do I do?

Nicki

Hey NNIcki.don;t pay that stupid bitch TYNK any attention,. So what if
yu got it posted in a goldfish group, a lot worse has been posted here
and she replied to it. She is just proving others points as to what
she really is and that is a hate mongor and a selfish snobbish
transexuakl looking for acceptance on USENET since no one in real life
wants anything to do with her.

Often times fins can discolor due to water parameters being off,
espeically ammonia or nitrates. Do a 50% or larger water change. Yuo
can also try adding in some amquel to lock uop any ammoinia etc that
may be in the water, and also change the activated carbon and wash out
the filter pads. Doi another water change again tomorrow.  I have seen
goldies etc get black tinges and such to their fins and scales when
water parameters are off. If it does not improve in a couple of days
report back on what is what again. Do water tests to assure the
parameters are fine, but regardless of what they show still do two
back to back water changes... How long do you have this Betta? What is
it in, What are water parameters, any other tank mates? Make your
water change water ahead of time  and not the day you need it if you
can.

Lies and defamotry comments deleted as well.

I sure wouldn't listen to anything this fool has to say, for obvious
reasons.

hmmmmmmmmmmm, even Dr. Solo sort of agreed with me more than she
agreed with you  TYNK. You lost your f.cking grip bitch, get over it
your in left field most times and this time is one of those times as
well..............you loser! TYNK the outsider inthe aquaria groups
anymore hahahahahahaha  Don;t despair Dr. Solo, I still think your a
f.cking idiot just the same you carpet munching lesbian, but your
credibility is much beeter than TYNK the chick with a dick.

This isn't really enough information to say exactly what is causing
the Betta's fins to trun black and shriveled.
Whether it be from a bacterial infection, or from ammonia / nitrate
burns, either way it's dead fin.
As for comments made by me to "not listen to anything "tristan" has to
say" was toward your outrageous lies you make up about me, not your
info about the fish.

Also, if you aren't a troll, doing obvious troll-like behaviors and
spamming up several groups for no reason, then why on earth do you
constantly cross post into groups that have absolutely nothing to do
with the subject? It's because you're a troll.
Here's your cross post list copy and pasted before I deleted it....

<<, rec.ponds, alt.politics.homosexual, rec.aquaria.marine.reefs>>

Why did you add this to the Pond group? Bettas have nothing to do with
ponds.
And I'm sure the folks at the Alt. Politics. Homosexual group are just
full of great information about Bettas and tropical fish tanks.
Why the need to post it in the Marine.reef group? Again...for no
reason other than to be a troll.
I am leaving the goldfish and freshwater.misc. groups on  because
Bettas should be being discussed in that type of group, more so than a
goldfish group...fish that should never be kept together.
Kind of like sticking to saltwater species in a marine reef group
where a discussion about freshwater Bettas has no place other than
trolling.
