Tonight the swelling is almost gone, and the pineconing is completely
gone.
It's amazing how fast the change has been.  Last night she was a
blimp with severe pineconing.  This morning a definite change was
noticeable, but both symptoms were still pronounced.  Tonight she
appears to be almost back to normal.

Now....to keep her stable; with continuing improvement and no
relapses.

On Sept 5th she ballooned overnight, and today the bloating has
diminished as fast as it first appeared.

Hi Dave.
That's great news!  = )
Can you re-cap what step/s you took in your Goldie's recovery from
Dropsy symptoms?
Fish hardly ever recover from the "pine -cone" state, but the
occasional fish sometimes does.
It's always a good thing to know the steps taken when you have one
that actually does make it through.
A fish buddy of mine had a Betta that made a recovery after pine-
coning, but she had to battle the symptoms for the rest of that fish's
life.
She lived a long while, but it took a good effort from her keeper.
I'm not saying that's what's going to happen with your Goldie, I'm
just commenting on what happened to this betta.
I've heard other posters (aol boards) speak of having survivals, but
it was either not long, or they had to keep the swelling at bay at all
times.
Keep her water pristine at all times and anything new to the tank
should be quarantined...even live plants.
You don't want her immune system to have to battle anything else.
Once again, this is great news for your goldie.

That's fantastic. Let's hope she continues to improve and makes a full
recovery. Well done!
Mel.

=================================
I've never seen this happen.  Please clue us in on exactly what you did to
have success with this fish.

Thanks.
