My wife swears up and down that our goldfish Mika-chan (currently about 2
1/2" long) and Hoshi (currently about 4 1/2" long) have grown noticeably
since we got them (Aug 19 for Mika-chan, Sep 1 for Hoshi).  I don't see it
myself.  Is it reasonable to expect Goldfisn in that size range to grow
noticeably in that short a time span?

Definitely! They grow really fast given good conditions and good food. I got
a couple of new fancy goldfish about a month ago and they have grown at
least an inch in length as well as a lot round the middle too!
