Both of the filters are Undergravels. One seems much more powerful,
though. The guy in the Pet Shop said he's never had a problem with them.
I didn't know they weren't for beginners.

Its not so much theyb are not really a good starting filter for
beginers, its just that they require a much more degree of
understanding and monitoring than a common hang on the back filter
like say a Penguin or Aqua Clear does, and the hang on back filters do
a ot more with a lot less chance of creating a problem a lot of foks
will most likely miss and wind up with dead or sick
fish.......expecially if water changes and tests are not done as
required. hob types just filter and make cleaner water overall than
any UGF does and they do a better job at doing it. UGF are not very
popular anymore these days as they were once 15 or so years ago, and
there is a reason for that popularity decline.
