Some are some are not......Tynk mentioned she thought it was a dwarf. I seem to think its a dwarf flame gourami. Dwarf flames have the back half of them a bright orange or sunset orange color. and dwarf gouramis are a bluish color, with lateral or horizontal lines of reddish orange. They only get about 2 to 3 inches in size in an aquarium.....and they do benefit from some veggie matter in there diet as well. He IS a Dwarf. And he looks just like this photo. Wtih all the info you get form the lfs your dealing with I have to wonder how they manage to stay in business since they are so full of bad info. No its not just the few on this gorups opinions either as what was stated here goes hand in hand with what is published and accepted methods and process of fish keeping.......now I need to see if there is a full sized gourani or is the term drawrf Flame legit or yet another petshop missnomer...as thats where I got the monicker of drawf flame...... Oh, it is dwarf Colisa Lalia (prob. mispelled)...just not the variant Dwarf Gourami which is a completely different coloration. This is a case where dwarf does not mean size for one variant, and is implied in the Flame case. When these flames were released to retail in ca. 1977, they were $30 EACH. I suspect you do not have a flame after all, but the so-called neon-red which is far, far less impressive in color than the flame. |
