I have a large Oranda (at least I think he is, large orange head). He has
what looks like a blister on the inside of one of his gills. It's swollen
on the inside, and a bubble has formed that sticks out of the gill cavity.
I see no signs of blood in it, and it looks totally clear inside.
Any idea what this is? Should I leave it, or try to lance it?
No other problems with the fish. I have 4 in a 40 gallon tank. All seem
healthy, happy, active, and eat well.
Thanks for any help,
Devin
it sounds like henneguya, put fish in separate bowl, lance it, dip it in peroxide (1
part 3% drug store hydrogen peroxide to 9 parts water, dip for 10 SECONDS only).
then put it in quarantine so dont give it to other fish.
1/2 cup peroxide + 4 1/2 cup water in a bowl if that will cover the fish.

Solve the problem, dont waste energy finding who's to blame

Thanks for the advice. I treated him once, but the bubble has come back,
however. How often should I repeat this treatment? What can I look into
that might be causing this? Or should I just keep lancing and treating with
the peroxide until it stops?
Thanks,
Devin
