I had the same question. My second biggest GF ( 5") is going completely
silver. It looks like it's sickly based on the colour, but seems fine
otherwise. It's always the first to the trough when there's food to be had.
I think it's a female, as the others were bunting it's belly a few months
back. I also found two babies last summer, which are about 2" now and
completely silver.
I guess I should not be worried?

To Geezer the List:
I've had two black moors turn gold, starting with their bellies. It
was a really beutifuyl change to watch, though both fush eventually
passed away. It may be that, at least in some fish, the black
coloration is an immature stage.
