Have a 29 gal aquarium with 4 GF in it, they all started out about 1.5
inch size in Feb 'o4 and now the Shubukin is about 5 in. and the black
moor is as big as my fist and the two vail tails  almost as big. I had
massive green algae in the water to the point of not being able to see
the plants or back of tank. Tried all the other remedies but no help.
Finally bit the bullet and got the Vortex and in 2 hours the water was
clear. Had to recharge the filter twice in 3 days because it sucked so
much algae out. Now the tank is clear. I leave filter on 24/7 and also
have a Biowheel 170 going. Through it all the fish have been happy and
well and eating as normal. Highly recommend the Vortex D1.

Yeah they certainly do the trick. Just a point (don't know if I should
mention this or not). Your tank is a bit overstocked, maybe the excessive
nitrates caused the algae problem.

Geezer and Larry,

Actually, you don't need nitrates to cause an algae
problem and in Larry's situation the problem was
probably brought on because his tank is overstocked and
the ammonia that the fish are expelling brought on the
algae situation.  Ammonia is very accessible to algae
to use as a growth media.
