Hi everyone!

My name is Kerry, and have 2 rabbits, Noel and Holly both of which are mini
lops.  Noel is all black, and Holly is dark grey with silver highlights I
guess you could call them throughout her fur.  I was here and reading,
posting some, a while ago but then my computer stopped being able to recieve
the messages for some reason and I couldn't participate for a while.  Well,
I'm back and want to join this loving bunny community again!

As far as my bunnies go, Holly is doing good, shes healthy and happy, loving
her greens and her hay and treats.  She is 5 years old, her birthday is on
halloween, October 31st.

Noel on the other hand isn't doing well. Shes the same age as Holly, a week
younger though, her birthday being November 7th. She had an eye infection a
few weeks ago and she went to the vet and got antibiotics for that and her
eye is alot better.  Also at that time we noticed she was hopping funny and
the vet said it was most likely a parasite that may or may not get better
with the antibiotic we were giving her.  When she would hop she would be
hopping fine if she went slowly but if she sped up her back legs would flop
out to the side and drag behind her.  Now she seems to be getting worse,
shes up on her back feet less often, mostly on her side now, and we've
noticed she's peed on herself because of her feet being flopped over.
Because of this she is getting sores on the side that she slides on.  We
gave her a bath today when we noticed she was peeing on herself and then
while she was out drying, she peed on herself again.  We're getting reall
worried about her and we don't want her to suffer but we don't know what to
do.  My mom says we may have to put her to sleep.   The vet wasn't in today
so we're going to try to get her in tommorrow and see what the vet says.  I
don't know what to do.  I love her so much I don't know what I'd do without
her.  but at the same time I don't want her to suffer.

Thanks for listening to me.
I'll let you know how shes doing and what the vet says tommorrow.

sounds like you need a second opinion. i don't think you vet has a clue
as to what it is. blood tests should be done. fecal float tests. etc..
is you vet rabbit savvy?
arlette? vet site please....

hi kerry, do you think your mom would be willing to find another vet?  one
that is more familiar treating rabbits is where you need to take noel.

have a look at arlette's website:

www.rabbitvet.net

or you can go to the house rabbit society website at:

www.rabbit.org

they have links to different state chapters.  are you in the USA and if you
are, what state are you in.  maybe someone here can recommend a good rabbit
vet in their area.  if your vet does not treat a lot of rabbits all the
time, then he/she may not diagnose the illness properly.  they may even
prescribe the wrong medication.

please keep us updated on noel.  sending healing vibes

Noel went to the vet, and she got some medicine that she has to take once a
day.  I think our vet is a rabbit specialist, so Noel is in good hands.  We
are hoping Noel is feeling better soon, she's such a darling and loves her
cuddles.  Thanks for your concerns,

Kerry, I hope the medicine does the trick. Do you the name of the
medicine? If your vet is bunny savvy, it would be good to hear what
was prescribed.

All ears and paws crossed for a speedy recovery,
