Hi all,

How long after a neuter would it be safe to put a boy with an unspayed
female?  Honey needs to wait a month or two to be spayed but she needs a
companion RIGHT NOW !!! LOL

Regards Kate and Madam Honey Bunny (bossy knickers) and Bob and Sarah in
spirit.

You have to wait a month after neutering for it to be 'safe'.

Kate, it's usually recommended to wait at least 4 to 6 weeks after a neuter
as they could still impregnate a female in that time.

My Advise to you would be to go ahead and find a male if you want, but don't
even try to bond them until a few weeks after Sarah is spayed (asuming that
he is already neutered) ... They could see each other and talk through a
fence (giving each other company)

I've heard of cases of bunnies that were bonded while babies that had to be
separated when they reached puberty losing the bond and they had to go
through the bonding process all over again after they were spayed and
neutered.

Has Honey told you that she needs a companion RIGHT NOW? ... I guess I know
who's boss at your house ... HaHa

Yes Madam Bunny has said "Right Now... or else I am going to continue to
harass the cat and try to mate with him or whatever it is you think I am
doing to him when I try to climb on his back" :)  She is trying to play
chase with the cats and dog and they can't be bothered with it.  Honey
is just full of life and I believe she would benefit from company of her
own kind.   after all theres nothing nicer than sharing bunny secrets
with another bunny.
Brin ( the dog) was stretched out in front of the fire dozing when
Honey started running rings around him until he finally got up and moved
away.  She promptly stole his place and stretched out... poor Brin
couldn't believe he had fallen for that trick.  Honey just gave him her
sweety sweet look and Im sure she whispered to him.  "This is my fire,..
yours is the one that Mummy and Daddy forgot to buy for you" :)

Take care everyone

Kate,

I wouldn't try to bond her with another rabbit yet. You don't want her
being that aggressive to any other rabbit -- she would probably try to
mate with him continually and it would cause fights.

At the rabbit rescue, we would never adopt out a rabbit as a partner if
the rabbit at home was not neutered or spayed.

After spaying, some rabbit are moody (hormonal) for a month or two, just
like a human would be after that surgery. I would wait at least a month
afterwards and then see how she's doing.

Good luck. By the way, did you get the photoshopped pictures I sent of
Honey?

This is a helpful thread for me, too.  Noodles is hormonal.  I'm not
100% sure which set of hormones, but hormones cretainly are at work!
I'm more and more suspicious that Noodles is a girl, as the behavior
is very Chopper-like and there is absolutely no evidence [sight or
otherwise] of boy parts anywhere where they would otherwise be.
Neither Raul nor Kuni act as if there's another male in the house.
They aren't aggressive or territorial, but both whine if they realize
they've gotten too close to Noodles in her [new pronoun for the time
being] enclosure.  Kuni in particular now isn't calm, cool or
collected around her anymore since she started acting hormonal [also
since started approaching his size].

I've put the bonding on hold until my boards are over on the 10th and
I can devote some serious time and attention to the process.  Now I
think I should defer it altogether until Noodles' 'fixing' , whatever
that becomes, is completed, probably when she is roughly 6 months old
in October.

Cheers, Diva
Kuni [It's not whining, it's high-pitched tactical growling], Raul
[the white furry female-like intruder has disrupted our lives forever
*grumblegrumble*] and Noodles [DAMMIT SOMEONE FIGURE THIS OUT ALREADY!
LOP OR UPPY!  GIRL OR BOY!  Oh wait, this is MY issue...never mind]
