Hey all am writing this as i am concerned about my rabbit. He is a 8 month
old Netherland Dwarf. He had an infection in his eye and was taken to the
vets who prescribed drops for it, since this his eye has cleared up a treat.
He is now making very harsh breathing noises and i am worried that it could
be some kind of respitaory problem. He is eating well and drinking, he is
also as lively as ever; it is just that this noise is quite disconcerting. He
is my first rabbit so i am a bit green on this. Anybody who could give me any
advice? It would be greatly appreciated.

Take him back to the vet immediately. He may have pneumonia. If that's
the case you could loose him quickly. Go!

Your bun needs to see a vet asap. Probably will need antibiodics
immediately. My bridge bunny had pnuemonia and made the worst railing
and rasping noises, it was unbearable to watch her struggle and not
eat or anything else when the respitory problems overcome everything.
Please call anyway to ask your vet. Carla Liza and Jodie.

Thanks all, I have booked him into the vet and they are going to see him
tomorrow first thing.

Hi Dear,
You need to get your bun back to the vet quickly. Whatever the infection was
in his eye may be coming from somewhere deeper or perhaps has moved into his
chest. Bunnies can succumb to pneumonia very quickly, so take him right
away. Make sure your vet is rabbit savvy. Check my site below if you feel
you need a second opinion.
Read lots on www.rabbit.org to learn more about rabbit care.

There's no way they can bring your bun in as an emergency is there? I
wouldn't want to wait until tomorrow myself.
If you start to see your rabbit keeping his nose raised up to get more air,
then it has become a definite emergency. I pray your bun will be well soon!.

Hey all. The vet said that the infection hasn't spread to his chest. The
yhave prescribed antibiotics as a precaution and also more eye drops in case
the eyes start to water again. He is eating well and drinking well and the
vet says that is a good sign, as is the fact that he is active. Thankyou all
very much for your help.
