nntp.dsl.pipex.com - 24 Feb 2008 11:04 GMT Hi all,
Maybe you've read about our rabbits Pie and Chips (see the threads with subject Companion).
I've put a short movie starring Pie and Chips online. Please have a look! http://www.atlanticview.biz/bunnies/piechipsmovie.htm
Regards
Alan
Els van der Veen - 24 Feb 2008 12:46 GMT Thanks Alan, that movie made my day! They look very comfortable together. Chips has such a serious little face... Of course, I'm a bit partial to Pie, being a rex and all that. I think he is simply gorgeous! Great Chincilla colouring.
Not to spoil your (or his!) fun: rexes are very prone to getting overweight and he is well on his way ;) Limiting his pellets and taking out the alfalfa (the flat leafy hay-bits) will help. Chips has still some growing to do, but adult rabbits really don't need (allthough love) big amounts of pellets.
But they are both gorgeous and look very happy. Thanks for letting us share! Els

Trouble is, as an only bunny for the last few months he's been somewhat spoiled.
But he is a perfect sweetie. I will try to get some film of him with those ears forward and the head bobbing up and down thing that rabbits do when they are not sure about something. Those ears have a life of their own. He sits at the window watching, ears straight up. When somebody walks past the ear closest to the window swivels around to follow! So funny. But yes, he is a gentle inoffensive sweetheart, but I'm convinced he's a little bit slow in the head. For example, little Chips learnt in precisely 4 days that a crackling rustling noise from the kitchen probably meant the kale bag was on the way - excitement! But Pie, in over 6 months, has never made the connection
Great fun

I would love to see the movie, but unfortunately it's in Quicktime and I can't see it. :-( Trying to download the QT files necessary only results in an error. I would love to see Pie and Chips - is there any chance of converting it to an mpg?
Take care, Martha and Aimee

Trouble is, I'm a Mac user, so of course Quicktime is the native format, and mpg is a Windows format. But I'll try a divx version, which Windows Media Player might handle, but it might need to download the codec. My tools don't seem to cater for any obviously Windows formats.
I'll get back to you

No need to apologise. :-) I don't use WMP, but I do have two other apps that I use for media files and I'm pretty sure both can read divx. Other apr-ers might have some problems but we'll have to wait and see. I know Joe is another Mac user who has encountered this issue. I think his solution was to post the file on YouTube for us, but I'm not sure if any converting happened beforehand.
I am very curious to see Pie and Chips, particularly since I am owned by a mini-Rex myself.

You will either see it immediately or need to download it - not sure really, but I do hope you can view it

I downloaded it just in case I needed to fiddle around, but it worked like a charm. I opened it up with Nero ShowTime. My goodness are they ever cute!
:-) I love Chip's snowshoe feet and Pie's ears have a life of their own. :-) Thank you very much for sharing.

Arlette & Cocoa - 24 Feb 2008 22:23 GMT I SEE IT NOW!!! Thanks! Was there sound?
The buns are so sweet. It's funny how Chips is concerned about Pie's presence. Reminded me of my Cocoa when Brownie first came on the scene.
They are beautiful buns!

As I sit here they are down at my feet, and Chips is wearing out Pie's ears, licking the life out of them. They groom each other a lot. No doubt that the pair of them have become firm friends, and very quickly, but then, Pie is a perfect sweetie, and would probably love a monitor lizard! Chips back legs are sticking out behind her, with those enormous feet, bigger than a labrador's!
Professor - 25 Feb 2008 21:50 GMT When I first introduced Jump to Zolo they licked each other's ears so much that they actually created bald spots. They did calm down, and the fur grew back. LOL

I use a Sony FX7E
Professor - 27 Feb 2008 00:54 GMT I was looking at Cannons. Is the Sony Blu-ray compatible?

But it all depends what you mean by Blu-Ray compatible. Certainly, edited output from all of these HD cameras IS compatible, but the problem is the creation of the discs. There is currently no way to burn a Blu-Ray DVD on an iMac, simple as that. The best way to view your HD material from HD camcorders is simply to connect the camera to the TV via an HDMI cable and press Play on the camera. If desired, you can download the original HD material to the computer, edit it, title it, etc, and 'print' it back to the tape in the camera, and then view it via the same HDMI connection. For short films there is a way to record HD material onto standard DVDs, via a standard DVD burner, such as is in the iMac, but I understand it to be quite a complex process, and I haven't tried it
Professor - 27 Feb 2008 21:27 GMT Yeah! And I'm a novice. I'll find out. Thanks.

A I'm sure it is, but if you want to share things with people who don't have that kind of equipment, you have to make choices.

>> > [quoted text clipped - 8 lines] > > Joe I haven't attempted to share anything such as the full HD with anybody here who doesn't have that sort of equipment have I? That's why I created smaller compressed QT versions, quite obviously, I think. I refuse to compromise my material further by going way way down to YouTube's level. As you will have seen, if you've read the thread completely, I was happy to produce a divx for one 'customer', but will go no lower

Arlette & Cocoa - 24 Feb 2008 22:16 GMT I can't see Quick time either, but that's by choice. When I install it, it screws up all my other media programs by trying to take over the world. So, I just won't have it on my computer. "Bad Quicktime, BAD, BAD!"

So, > I just won't have it on my computer. "Bad Quicktime, BAD, BAD!" I think it's more Microsoft than Quicktime. Seems like only Windows users have problems with it. I can see QT videos fine from linux, for example. MS has a history of crippling third party formats and applications.
Microsoft has just recently been making compatibility noises, saying they're going to go with open formats (for some things anyway). Maybe this will change in the future. I suspect they're facing the fact of OS neutral viewing formats like Flash.

Professor - 25 Feb 2008 05:25 GMT Funny, I have an Apple & a Dell. Quicktime runs on my dell with no issues. It runs so well I bought Quicktime pro so I can edit. All the cameras I have seen shoot in Quicktime. And no, Quicktime never took over stuff that I didn't want it to.
