New furniture this Wed-- how not to upset the bun? (peeing!)

I live with my Giant Flemish who has, shall we say, a size-appropriate
bladder.

During an extended renovation (is there such a thing as a construction
job that actually goes on schedule) the General was fortunate enough
to hang out with the famous Bay Ridge Bun-Gang, housed with the lovely
Nona.

Well, when the apartment was finally done, the General came home.
Without thinking, I just gave him free roam of the place, just like
he had before.  The problem was, the apartment wasn't the same
anymore.  I had knocked out an entire wall, making it one big room
instead of a living room and separate kitchen.

Well, it must have looked like more territory because the General
decided he had to find an extra place to mark.  Strangely, he chose my
bedroom (true, it was right by the cat litter-- but I moved the cat
litter to a completely different location and he still marks the same
place, even though nothing is there but the wall.

So this Wednesday I'm getting new furniture.  For the first time in my
life, REAL furniture like the kind you buy in a store!  I'm even going
to have a real BED and can stop sleeping on the couch and floor.

You probably know where this is going.  How do I prevent the General
from peeing on the furniture?   Do I need to start all over from the
beginning by putting him in an X-pen and enlarging the space?  Or do I
block off access to the new furniture only, and then let him in there
a little bit at a time?

Did I tell you that he has a big bladder?

Thanks!  and Hi Nona!

Sleeping on a real bed instead of the couch has been overrated.  It's
really comfortable to be able to hang your leg over the back of the
couch and have an arm dangling on the floor.

I think you block of the furniture. And if that isn't practical in all
places, I just read something that sounds like it would work. Get the
plastic carpet protectors at Home Depot and cut to size. Put the
pointy side up so when the General hops up it won't be so
comfortable.  Supposed to not hurt and dissaudes the bunny from going
on the furniture.
Hope you love the renovation! And isn't it exciting to get "real"
furniture?
